Tip no. 3

Hard water: 6 signs that should alert you

Not a health problem, but a real technical problem for the house. Six unmistakable signs.

Hard water is generally not a health problem, but it can become a real technical problem for a home: the calcium and magnesium it contains gradually form scale.

  1. 1

    White marks on the taps

After drying, whitish deposits appear around aerators and on surfaces.

  2. 2

A shower that scales up quickly

Glass screens and taps need frequent cleaning.

  3. 3

A heating element that scales up

Scale settles on heating elements and gradually reduces their efficiency.

  4. 4

A boiler or appliance that performs less well

Equipment using hot water is particularly affected by deposits.

  5. 5

    Heavy use of descaling products

When descaling becomes permanent, it pays to look at the cause rather than the consequences.

  6. 6

    A poorly adjusted softener

A softener must be properly set and maintained. Excessively softened water is not desirable either.

Should you install a softener?

It depends on your water hardness, your installation and your needs. A properly sized and maintained softener limits scale in the domestic installation.
